Currently, the route is serviced exclusively by bus operators. While it may seem limiting, it is the most practical way to navigate the winding, narrow highways of Western Nepal.

Our Recommendation: Opt for the early morning departures (usually around 7:00 AM). The roads leading out of Kathmandu toward the Prithvi Highway and beyond become notoriously congested by mid-morning. Leaving early allows you to clear the valley traffic before the heavy cargo trucks begin their slow, labor-intensive climb.

The Realities of the Road

Don’t expect a smooth highway experience. Once you veer off the main arteries toward Bhingri, the roads narrow significantly. You will experience sharp, hairpin bends and potential dust clouds if you are traveling during the dry season.

• Departure Point: Buses typically depart from the Gongabu New Bus Park. Be wary of "middlemen" who try to hustle you toward specific counters; walk directly to the official booking windows for Greenline, Jagadamba, or Sarathi to ensure you get the price listed on your ticket.
• The Taxi Trap: If you arrive at the bus park via taxi, ignore the driver’s claims that "the bus is already full" or "the bus doesn't go to Bhingri today." This is a common scam to get you to book a private jeep at triple the price. Stick to your pre-planned bus route.
• Rest Stops: Drivers will stop at designated roadside dhabas. These spots serve standard Dal Bhat. Stick to hot, freshly cooked vegetarian options to avoid "traveler’s tummy" on a bus with limited restroom access.
